How to Find Joy in Giving Unto Others

Hey everyone! thank you for all of you who have been reading my posts and giving feedback, I appreciate it!

This week I wanted to talk a little about another principle that I have found from my studies, specifically in Genesis 14. This chapter really stuck out to me and I think that there is a lot we can learn form it.

Abraham on the Plains of Mamre

In this chapter, Abraham is sent to rescue his brother Lot because he was taken captive. Abraham gathered about 300 of his servants and went to rescue him.

After Abraham had returned, there were spoils of war, that had been taken from the kingdom of Sodom, which he returned. He did not want to take any spoils for himself because he did not want to be made rich by an earthly king. He wanted everyone to see that it was God who had blessed him. What he did do though, was ask for a portion to be given to those that had been serving with him.

To me this is such a great example of selflessness and a desire to look after one’s brother. Abraham gave great opportunities and blessings to those around him.

Today in my life when I look back on the opportunities that I have had to bless others or those that are less fortunate than I, I always remember a feeling of peace and happiness. when we give of our substance to another, our Heavenly Father smiles down on us and it will be added back unto us far more than what we gave up.

There are so may ways that we can give to others, be it through monetary aid, or spending quality time with others. When we choose to invest in others in one degree or another, there will always be a return on that investment.

I would encourage you to ponder what ways you can invest in and serve others. set goals and action plans with yourself so that you can be accountable and see progress.

As you take the time to help others, Heavenly Father will help you in ways that you cannot even begin to imagine.
