What We Can Learn From Esther

This week I had the opportunity to read the book of Esther and study more about her story. I was taught about her as a child and always admired her courage and faith. After Esther becomes queen to Ahasuerus, she learns of a plot to kill all of her people, the Jews. Her cousin, Mordecai pleads with her to go to the king and prevent the disaster; however, she knows that if the King is unpleased that she came before him without being called upon, she could be sentenced to death.

Esther knew that she was the only one that could save her people. She asked all the Jews to fast and pray for 3 days and afterword she would go before the king. The Jews were faithful and did as she asked and Esther and her e=her maidens did the same. After those three days, she went to king. That must have been the hardest and most terrifying thing she had ever had to do in her life, but she trusted in the Lord.

The one thing that really stood out to me in this story was the prayers and fasting of the people. These really do help us prepare spiritually and the Lord blesses us as well. We can all learn from these faithful Jew’s examples and show our faith in the Lord more by fasting and truly praying.
